Plonka: Five Kinds of Legato Every Singer Needs

Legato is not one skill but five. Dominika Plonka breaks them apart, then rebuilds them live on two singers' ballads.

Classical teachers treat legato as the mark of a finished singer. This session shows you how to actually train it. Dominika Plonka takes legato apart into five layers - onset, breath, pitch, vowel-to-vowel and dynamics - with the physiology behind each: why a soft onset lets the lateral muscles adduct the folds instead of slamming them, why cutting airflow starves the oscillation like fuel starved from an engine, how slides train continuous stretching for the mix, and why volume should come from raising flow rather than pressure. Then two singers bring ballads to the floor and get coached phrase by phrase on sighed onsets, consonants placed under the note, and holding tension on descending lines. For teachers and serious singers.
