Fitzmaurice Voicework Part 1: Destructuring, Tremor and Song
A certified Fitzmaurice teacher puts a room of voice teachers on the floor to feel destructuring, then stands them up to sing from a released body.
This is a workshop, not a lecture, and you feel the work before anyone explains it. It opens with a partner exercise borrowed from combat trainer Chris DuVal: resist with a clenched fist and held breath, then repeat it relaxed with the breath and energy flowing out through your fingertips. The difference is unmistakable. Then everyone goes to the floor for Catherine Fitzmaurice's destructuring sequence, spiral twists, the up-and-over, the hammock and the mermaid arch, hunting the tremor, releasing held tension and letting gentle sound ride the exhale. You learn the healthy count as the doorway to restructuring, then rise through the waterfall and sing. Half the room observes as teachers and reports back.
